When a guy holds your hand?

I'm not sure if I might be completely wrong about this but I attach a guy holding your hand to mean SO much!!!! If a guy is trying to hold your hand or wraps your fingers in between your fingers (ahh you know what i mean) - does that mean he likes you? or could the guy potentially do that not meaning anything by it? is it as powerful as i think it is? are there guys that hold any girl's hand? I had this somewhat jerk guy I've been hanging out with grab my hand in secret and hold it (jerk guy is friend's with this guy that likes me).. i've had this guy who has a girlfriend try to grab and hold my hand??? how symbolic and powerful is a guy grabbing and holding your hand?
