Family members to break-in towards me?

I have had two separate home break-ins two separate houses. The first one my husband and I upstairs in bed I heard a noise I thought it was my son it ended up being a man in our bedroom a seasonal farm worker. I couldn't find the phone right away or a light (therefore I learned to have those accesable near bed) I woke my husband up he didn't believe me if it wasn't for the muddy footprint on the toilet lid he wouldn't have. Still to this day for some reason he doesn't believe it happened and he saw the evidence. The second time my husband was up for work in the early a.m. in the bathroom and I was just walking I saw the door start to open I freaked and I was afraid to go near door thinking someone might have a gun or knife. I kicked the door closed fast and called my husband call the police etc. guy never caught. I saw the back of him and I believe it was a man that bought a washer off of us. My son doesn't believe me. Is it because they don't respect me? I don't cry wolf so I ? why
